| 2:7 Caring for the Poor In the Old Testament God used several welfare programs to help poor people. One, reflected in this passage, was the command to deliberately leave some of the harvest in the field for the poor to gather. Poor people didn't beg for handouts, but worked for what they got. Leviticus 19:9, 10 and Deuteronomy 24:19-22 give the directions. |
