10:31 A Year of Freedom
According to God's law, Jews were supposed to take every seventh day - the Sabbath - off work. Not only that, but every seventh year was a holiday from farming and a time when all debts were cancelled (see Leviticus 25:1-7; Deuteronomy 15:1-11). But these rules for the seventh year were seldom, if ever, followed; "business as usual" generally prevailed.
